LecShare ceases operations
Dear friends and customers,
As with all things in life, change is the norm. It is with sadness that I inform you that LecShare has ceased operations. LecShare has been a part of my life now for 8 years. I sincerely thank all of the customers I have had over this time for helping make LecShare a better product and make me a better person. It was a project that I hoped would change things, and I think it has. When I look out over products that LecShare intersects with, I see a lot of accessibility improvements.
LecShare has been a project I have maintained on the side while working other full time jobs. Since it has always been a side job, I've always had to carve out additional time to maintain and develop it. At times that got to be quite difficult from a technological perspective. I had to account for changes in both the Windows and Mac operating systems, changes in both the Windows and Mac versions of Microsoft PowerPoint, and changes in both the Windows and Mac versions of QuickTime. It was literally trying to hit 6 moving targets, and none of those vendors made that an easy process. Some of that compatibility has now become impossible to maintain without completely rewriting the software.
Maintaining that compatibility and the support that I want to give my customers has become too difficult while maintaining my other commitments. LecShare Lite will still be available as a free download for anyone who wants it, but there is no technical support for the product. Unfortunately, I cannot offer LecShare Pro anymore because there are licensing costs involved that I must pay for each copy of LecShare Pro that is sold. The licensing server that activates current versions of LecShare Pro should still be operational, so current copies will work, but again, there is no technical support offered for the product.
Again, thank you to my customers.
Sincerely,
Greg Kraus
